New private island coming to the Bahamas in 2017
December 15th, 2015 – A new island will be coming to the Bahamas! MSC Cruises will be purchasing an island that will be ready for use in 2017 for $200 million. In an effort to further strengthen its presence in the North American market, MSC will base 2 ships from the Port of Miami MSC Divina which just came back to the states this past month and MSC Seaside which is scheduled to arrive Dec 2017. Currently majority of MSCs itineraries call at Nassua or Norwegian cruise Line private island Great Stirrup Cay.
Not much else is known about the island but upon speaking with a MSC representative I was able to confirm that it will open some time in 2017, the name is yet to be determined but will go by “Best of Bahamas” in the meantime. It is also unclear if MSC Divina or MSC Seaside will be the first ships to port there, as well as if the port will require tendering or if it will be berth. More information is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2016, but check back here for further updates as more inforamtion becomes available. Have a look at MSC Seaside renderings below.
