Royal Caribbean cancels 6 sailings on Empress of the Seas
March 18, 2016 – Today Royal Caribbean announced that Empress of the Seas will not make her re-debut into the fleet as scheduled. The following cruises have been Cancelled:
- March 30th 5 night Key West & Grand Cayman Cruise
- April 4th – 3 night Bahamas Cruise
- April 7th – 4 night Key West & Bahamas Cruise
- April 11th – 5 night Costa Maya & Cozumel Cruise
- April 16th – 5 night Key West & Grand Cayman Cruise
- April 21st – 4 night Bahamas Cruise
” As you know, Empress of the Seas recently transitioned into the Royal Caribbean fleet after sailing with Pullmantur Cruises. The ship is currently at the shipyard getting an extensive makeover, including a rock-climbing wall, new pools and whirlpools, an adults-only Solarium, and our signature steakhouse Chops Grille. In addition the ship will offer Voom, the fastest internet at sea.” said a representative of Royal Caribbean.
The ship will continue to renovations while docked in a shipyard in Cadiz, Spain. “Like many large renovation projects, we are going to need more time to ensure the ship meets the high standards for quality our guests expect from Royal Caribbean.”
Affected guest have the option to sail an alternative sailing on board Empress of the Seas and receive $100 per stateroom on board credit. Guest with air transportation through the cruise line will have their flights rescheduled at no cost to them. Guests with private air accommodations will receive $200 toward air change fee for domestic flights and $300 for international flights.
Guest who wish to no longer sail on Empress of the Seas can choose to receive a full refund.
